This website is dedicated to the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of saintly memory,
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the leader of World Jewry.
The material of Kabalah and Chassidus that you learn on this website
is designed for the beginning student. Please remember that the study
of Kabalah and Chassidus is not meant to be independent of the rest of
G-d's Torah and its commandments. Rather, the purpose of studying Kabalah
and Chassidus is to actually fulfill the commandments of the Torah in action,
such as observing the Sabbath, eating kosher food, men to put on tefillin
every day, and women to light Sabbath candles 20 minutes before sunset every
Friday, and so on with the rest of the 613 commandments of the Torah.

Introduction to Kabalah and Chassidus.
Kabalah and Chassidus are part of the Torah that G-d Almighty gave
to the Jewish People on Mount Sinai. (Also included in the Torah that
G-d gave are the 7 Noachide laws that all non-Jews in the world are
obligated to fulfill. They are- No Idolatry, No Killing, No Stealing,
No Adultery or Immoral Sexual Acts, Not to Blaspheme, Not to
eat the limb of a living animal or a living animal, and to have courts of
Justice to administer all of these laws.) When G-d gave the Torah to
the Jewish People, He first gave it over to Moses, the one leader of
the Jewish People. G-d gave Moses one, and only one Torah. Yet,
this Torah has two parts- the written part and the oral part, or the oral
interpretation of the written Torah. The written part of the Torah includes
the 5 Books of Moses, the Prophets and the Writings (Although, the
Prophets and Writings were given in later generations after Moses.).
The oral part of the Torah includes the Mishnah, the Talmud,
the Code of Jewish Law, other major legal Torah codifications,
Kabalah and Chassidus, and ALL of the thousands of commentaries of ALL
of the Torah commentators throughout the generations. The reason that I
say that the oral part of the Torah includes all of the later commentaries even
after the time that G-d gave the Torah to Moses is because of a major
principle of the Torah- it says in the Talmud- "every novel insight in Torah
of a diligent Torah student (in future generations) was given to Moses on
Mount Sinai". The reason that we say that a novel insight of a diligent student
was given to Moses by G-d is because the intellect of the Torah is very deep.
And when a student in a future generation reveals a deeper insight in the
intellect of the Torah, the Torah says that this very insight was included in
the laws that G-d gave to Moses.
Originally, G-d gave Kabalah and Chassidus to Moses. But, in the
beginning at Mount Sinai there was a prohibition of the Torah that
Kabalah and Chassidus should not be taught to the general Jewish People;
only very big Torah sages were permitted to study these parts of Torah.
The reason for this prohibition was because Kabalah and Chassidus were
such high and holy parts of the Torah that ordinary people were not fitting
receptacles for them. However, in these later generations the situation changed-
The AriZal, Rabbi Yitzchok Luria, the most major recent teacher of Kabalah,
taught that now, in our generations, (he lived about 500 years ago), it is a
commandment of the Torah to reveal this wisdom (of the inner dimension of
the Torah). The same thing applies to Chassidus. The reason for this change
from the first generations after Mount Sinai and these last generations is
as follows- with the continuation of the generations, the spiritual darkness
has become very great in the world. By spirutal darkness I mean how
so many vast numbers of people in the world do not have a full and total
appreciation of G-d's ways that are in the Torah. In order to overcome this
spiritual darkness we MUST now study the inner dimension of the Torah,
Kabalah and Chassidus, which contain a very high G-dly light, in order to
overcome this spiritual darkness. The second reason for the study of Kabalah
and Chassidus in these later generations is because every commandment of
the Torah requires a preparation. And since, according to the Lubavither Rebbe,
we are now right before the coming of the Moshiach, the Messiah, we have
to study the inner dimension of the Torah to prepare ourselves for the main
occupation of the days of the Moshiach which will be to study the inner
dimension of the Torah, Kabalah and Chassidus.
